Someone to fix my web site?
« on: April 11, 2008, 06:41:45 AM »
I have been waiting a real long time for my web guy to fix my web site. I am about to give up on him. I know what I want and have told him. Can someone suggest anyone to do it for me that won't cost me an arm and a leg? Or can tell me how to do it myself? (book to buy ect)

Do you know where they got that template? Do you have access to the server and the place that it is hosted? If you do then might I suggest you visit a site called guru.com. This site will allow you to bid your website out to people all over the world mostly oversees in places like pakistan and india. But it doesn't matter they can do great work and needless to say it will cost far less than you might expect. There is a bidding process much like ebay or others and you can preview the other work people have done to see if you like the style.

I hope that helps.

Beebop is your website done? I looked at their example site www.myriotan.com and that one looks really nice to me.

Are you getting your website fixed suddenlytan? I looked and I see what you mean about it being a mess. I also looked at the Rio Tan example and that blows away your website. Says it is only 150 per year so that would be a bargain I think. I am going to check since I need one myself

I emailed them and was quoted 150/year and 50 setup fee. So 200 first year. The example on their website costs that amount see below...

Thank you for your inquiry. We are still working on our website. It has taken a backseat to our customers right now. We will be adding additional information in the coming days.

In answer to your question, the example websites shown are both our premium sites. They cost 200 first year and then 100 per year after that. We are offering new customer special of 50 each renewal year. This includes hosting your website which is a nice savings. Right now we ask for a word document with the text you want posted. The formatting of the website will be done via a phone conversation and then a primary build. Once you approve of the general structure the website will be built. You can provide images or we have many or can source specific images based on need. Timing is based on you not us. Generally it takes 2 weeks to finish a project. Customers always make a lot of changes so we keep tweaking until it is done. You can add anything to the service. Some people like to track statistics that is $20 a year for example. We also can fix most issues within an hour of notification.

I recommend looking into creating your own website using a template.  I recommend   http://www.spaboom.com/   I have used them to make a website for one of my own companies http://www.secretformulations.com/ and also for one of my clients http://www.distinctionsalonspa.com/ The advantage of being with a template company like SpaBoom is you can update and make changes to your website any time you want. There are also many other great features that come with the website at no charge.

Ana Your website doesn't open properly in firefox. Whats that say about you?

And the websites mentioned do not produce websites that have the backend programming for the rankings.

I got from www.zoomsalon.com My website ranks number one with the search engines when searching in my area. I have had several of my girls check it all over the place and am very happy with the rankings. Plus the look is exactly as requested. For 150 onetime it was totally worth having them do it for me. Who really has the time anymore.

If anything I'd also look at salonbuilder.com at least they got the look, but the price is much higher and I am not sure if I'd get number one spot like I got. And stop spamming your own company they should delete that anyway.

Billie, why are you so rude?  I have firefox, and the websites referenced above by "AnaTheSpaCoach" open fine for me.  What on god's-green-earth could you possibly mean, when you say "what does that say about you," when YOU have a firefox problem?

At any rate, I digress.  SpaBoom (www.spaboom.com) is one of the leaders in dynamic websites and instant gift certificates, and your statement above about spaboom doesn't support "the rankings" is really confused.  What does that say about you?

Search engine rankings is a complicated subject, and any web hosting company or developer can only assist with a subset of the issues.  Of those issues that can be automated, SpaBoom handles them superbly.  Search engine rankings also has a lot to do with (1) content and (2) those who link to you; neither of which can really be automated effectively by your web hosting company.  With that said, however, if you update your content frequently, with relevant and interesting information, your rankings will improve.  SpaBoom provides an easy way to update your content, without having to pay a web developer to do it, and in some cases, will automatically update your content to account for special events and holidays.

And, if I'm reading the above thread correctly, AnaTheSpaCoach was addressing the issue of being able to update content easily.  SpaBoom is probably one of the best suggestions she could give.  I don't believe anyone addressed rankings.  So, again, what does that say about you??!?

Larry.

OK not all of us are loaded. Spaboom costs 299.99 to signup and 50 dollars per month from then on. That means it costs 900 a year just to have a website. That is a lot of money these days and if you can get same or perhaps better from less expensive places then I vote for less expensive.

On the issue her posts were the first for her and they both promoted her own website

Money is a factor. How much revenue does your website generate it is very hard to tell. But a grand per year for a website is too much unless you are selling on it or are in a very upscale environment and need something cutting edge. But by the same logic most of the fancy graphics no longer open in IE for security reasons
