Brandnames Sell Better?
« on: October 15, 2008, 11:59:00 AM »
I am now totally convinced that brandnames sell better. The fact that they are on the internet for less means less to me than the total sales per year.

Small brand product must cost less to justify their lack of sales and marketing. If you bring in Devoted Creations or Designer Skin most tanners know them. These brands have spend millions telling customers who they are.

epifany, mrtan and other boutique tanning lotions have zero brand awareness and therefore the retails should reflect that lack of presence. A $100 retail DS lotion can be duplicated by others and sold at a 40-50 retail. No money was spent building those brands so they must cost less.

I support this though as I think $100 is to much and that giving that quality for forty or fifty bucks is a real fresh sale.

I have had experience with the MR International tanning lotions like ibronze and itan and have found them to be identical to Devoted Creations lotions in every way. So why pay similar prices for products that nobody knows or cares about? Devoted Creations has a good following.

The reason Designer Skin sells so well is that people actually know and trust the brand. Getting my staff behind products that nobody knows about costs more in the near and long term.

Now if the price was much lower I'd take the risk. A good example is Epifany Golden Embrace which I brought in and simply can't keep on the shelf. The cost basis is so low that it was worth my effort to build that lotion up. PLUS the lotion is simply terrific and I use it myself when I need a bronzer.
