Skin Care and Tanning

Anyone having success with skin care lines sales in tanning. Seems like it would be a good tie-in but really don't see much on people doing it.

You will find some doing it. The connection between tanning and skin care really never hit salon owners brains. With a combo store I can see first hand the value of multiple ways to make money. The hair products sell all day long and we have added skin care to some extent along with spa essentials like foot care creams. This all sells well. Not as well as the tanning lotion and hair products which are our main sellers. But if I do 10,000 in skin care simply by having it on my shelves than that is a couple hundred per week I never would have seen.

We have been doing it since July now. I keep expanding the selection every week. I have a 10 x 10 area now dedicated to a wide range of items. I am considering removing one of my front rooms to create a larger area and bring it more into the lobby experience of the salon. Now that I see trends with this I can see many offshoots for new things to sell and provide.

I do this too. Amazing results on an obvious extension of my salon. I have never been into another salon that does it much if at all. Brian I think if you remove your front room and expand you will get results. Give an update in a few months after you see some cash come in and best wishes

Tanning is, by definition, the skin darkening as a reaction to sun exposure. UV rays, unless approached correctly and with certain precautions, are dangerous and have been linked to skin cancer. Thus, its important to not overdo it, recognize the difference between a burn and a tan, and to wear sunblock or sunscreen every time you are out in the sun.

Tanning is addictive, and the results can be beautiful - but start slow and build on your time. As with the rabbit and the hare, slow and steady indeed wins the race, and saves you from problems down the road.

Hemmoroids?  Where did that come from?
